Meet the team.

Paws Nursery opened in Sept. 1995 as a small, home-based Nursery, offering a high quality pre-school education for small groups of children, attending on a sessional basis. It is family owned and operated.

Demand for places rapidly outstripped supply, and in Nov. 1996, the Nursery moved to purpose adapted premises, designed to cater for larger numbers of children, though retaining smaller intimate groupings.

In 2002, the option of attending a “lunch club” session enabled parents to select from a range of extended sessions, including the option of full school days.

The Nursery now consists of a spacious open-plan unit, with specific areas designated for a wide range of activities in which children can initiate their own choice and/or be directed by staff who extend their skills, knowledge and understanding, based on regular observations of the progress of each individual child. Through the range of purposeful play and challenging activities, children are introduced to the full range of curriculum areas, in order to develop skills and understanding within a broad and balanced framework. Each child is encouraged to reach his/her own potential, whilst developing the ability to work and play cooperatively with others. This is conducted within the framework of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Paws Nursery adheres to an Equal Opportunities policy (details available on request). The Nursery also responds to Special Educational Needs, having regard to the Code of Practice. A strong Partnership with Parents is actively encouraged, valued and respected. A comprehensive Safeguarding Policy ensures the safety of children whilst at nursery. Further details of all nursery policies and practices are available upon request, and for parents when a child is admitted to Paws Nursery.
